THREE INCHES ON PLAINS RISE IN RIVER LEVEL The welcome rain which commenced last Tuesday and extended to Thursday morning was warm and penetrating and constitutes the first consistent fall for the pash two months. On the Plains well over 3 inches were recorded while in Wliakatane the fall was 2.33 inches making, the total for the year to date 12.77 inches. The Wliakatane river has been visibly swollen and yesterday reached a level hitherto not attained this year. A feature was the picture of hundreds of logs brought down by the liusli from the higher reaches.
