GARDENING CIRCLE

The monthly meeting of the Wai-mana-Nukuhou Women's Institute gardening circle was held at Mrs John Addison's home. There was a good attendance of members, and Mrs Addison presided. The minutes were read and passed. There was a good discussion on vegetable growing for tliis time of the j r ear. Mrs Stevenson read most interesting papers on striking carnation cuttings and using sulphur for mildew on roses. The day's competitions were as follows: Best flower., Mrs Woolfield 1; Mrs Mitchell 2; Mrs King 3. Best ♦ vegetable, Mrs Mitchell 1; Mrs Hughes 2; Mrs Wylde 3. Bowl winter/ decorations, Mrs Mitchell 1. Afternoon tea \\as served by Mrs Mannion and Mrs Addison. A competition arranged by Mrs Addison was won by Mrs Mitchell 1, and. Mrs •King 2. A vote of thanks to the judge and the hostess for the pleasant afternoon spent by all was passed.
