EARLY TRAINING NECESSARY At last Executive meeting of the Auckland Farmers' Union the following remit was received from Cambridge. "That provision for musketry and marksmanship training within the primary and secondary educational curriculum of New Zealand be established at the earliest possible moment." Mr Hallj'burton Johnstone, who supported the remit, said that in New Zealand the position as regards marksmanship had deteriorated. This was evidenced in the Home Guard, where it was found that the best shots were amongst the veterans who had had early training. The ivay to teach a man to shoot was to start young.
