PARCELS RECEIVED
PATRIOTIC GIFTS FROM OTAKIRI LETTERS OF APPRECIATION The secretary of the Otakiri Patriotic Society, Mrs A. Tickner, has received further letters from menserving overseas who have received safel3 r the parcels sent out regularl.v by her society. Writing from the Middle East 2nd Lieut. L. E. Griffin states that his parcel came on Christmas Eve and that the contents were in excellent order. He was deeply appreciative* Pilot Keith Easton writes from London, where he is stationed, to say that the people of NeAV Zealand could have no idea what pleasure the parcels conveyed to the men. It helped to fdl that gap of 12,000 miles which separated them from home. All the contents were in tiptop order. Sgt. W. G. Bisscll of the Forest try group also stationed in England, sends his thanks and appreciation. The cake, lie says, was perfect. He adds "while all of us here feel we would like to be out East with the boj-s, we may still have the opportunity of taking a more active part in what we believe will be a certain victory. When that comes ships will not be fast enough to get us back."
