EGYPT'S FATE
WHETHER we relish it or not, the facts regarding the Libyan retreat have taught us the unsavoury truth that from a dominant position of a little over a fortnight ago, our forces are now well inside the Egyptian frontier with Mersa Matruh as their new focal point. Rommel's forces, flushed and triumphant are swiftly advancing, forcing the issue at every step and giving us little time, to consolidate our new positions. These things we must learn to assimilate in the sober light of reason for they are undeniable. Criticism and chargrin at the lumbering control of our gallant forces should be delegated to the background for we cannot escape the new threat to Egypt and the Suez Canal. The see-saw Libyan campaign would appear to have ended disastrously for ourselves for at no time previously had the enemy penetrated so far into Egyptian territory. If we are believers in the teachings of British-Israel, we would say that these things were to be, for by the interpretation of Biblical prophecy as shown by this movement, the whole of Egypt must fall before the tide commences to turn. To date the B.L forecast of the progress of the war has been uncannily correct, but we have yet to see the Egyptians turn pro-Axis, which seems, at present at least, beyond the pale of possibility. In the meantime however let us not seek to evade the truth, which is unmistakeably dictated by the progress of events in fardistant Egypt and also let us reflect upon the repercussions of these Axis victories, to the third member of the past, the conquest-proud Japanese and the direct threat by that nation to ourselves. The hour is grave!
