WHAKATANE BRANCH f . MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Whakalane Branch of the New Zealand Red Cross Society which Avas held in the Borough Council Chambers Avas , well attended. Mrs W. Sullivan was in the chair. The president reported that the project of obtaining a room for training V.A.'s had been proceeded with, and Avas partially equipped as a result of the AAork and generosity of many persons. A vote of thanks to those Avho had Avorked to achieve the excellent result, and to donors of equipment Avas passed. FiA r e local men AA r ere fare-welled by the Society during the month, they Averc J. Melville and Hansen (Air Force), Hon Thompson (Navy), and S. S. Becker (Army). -' Mrs Sullivan reported that the ladies had raised to date £4b"4 for the Patriotic All Purposes Appeal. . V
