TANEATUA HALL
LEASE TO BE OFFERED FIIVE OR TEN" YEAR PERIOD The question of caretaking for the Taneatua Hall was before the Whakatane County Council yesterday when Mir C. R. Gooeh wrote advising that there was no caretaker available for the hall. For the time being arrangements had been made with Mr J. Garlick to do the work at a monthly wage of £2 less tax, but he would not accept any permanent appointment. The County Clerk reported that Mr Gooch had been advised that the Council understood that the Hall Committee with him w otr I tl be on the loolc-out for a suitable permanent caretaker, and would report progress to the council. He added that Mr Gooch had advised that the Hall Committee had no recommendation to make in regard to the letting of the Taneatua Hall excepting that such committee favoured the releasing of the hall for picture entertainments. The council resolved that tenders be called on the same terms, heating plant excluded, for the lease of the Taneatua Hall for picture entertainments, alternatively term 5 years or 10 years.
