EDGECUMBE RESERVE
COUNTY COUNCIL'S PROPOSAL INVESTIG ATI ON PLANNED The question of purchasing a substantial section in the Edge.curnbe township for the purpose of converting it laiter into a recreation area exercised the Whakatane County Council for a brief period yesterday. Mr McCracken said that the time was now opportune for making' the purchase before the section was built on. When normal times re* turned there was no question but that Edgecumbe would grow very substantially. Cr D. Spence pointed out that the present Domain serving Edgecumbe was too far from the town to be of great use to residents. Crs L. Lux ton and A. McGougan both supported the scheme and it was finally decided to refer the matter to Crs McCracken afid Spence to investigate and report back.
