EFFECT OF SPEED While tyro wear under normal road conditions may not bo so se-< vcrc, the statistical data quoted provides food for thought. Even on straight-away roads, the effect of speed on tyre wear is beyond question, and conforms very close to the appended tabulation, says the Dunlop Bulletin:— Speed: 1.1 m.p.h., 30 per cent, above normal wear; 20 m.p.h.. 27 per cent; 25 m.p.h., 20 per cent; o() m.p.h., 11 per cent; 35 m.p.h., normal wear; 10 m.p.h., 12 per cent below normal wear; 45 m.p.h., 22 per cent; 50 m.p.h., 33 per cent: 55 m.p.h.. -15 per cent. Tlie.se figures are based on tyres being run at correct inflation pressure and not overloaded.
