National Service "It is known that quite a number of men and women liable for registration under orders relating to the direction of labour into essential work have not yet fulfilled their obligation. In fact, I hold a schedule of names of many of these per-* Sons, living in practically every part of the Dominion." This statement was made by the Minister of National Service, the Hon. R. Semple, who added that in view of the wide publicity: given to the effect of the orders under the National Service Regulations, there should be little excuse for failure to register. Too Late Manj* requests for the redemption of sugar ration coupons, the period for which expired recently, have been made to grocers, who have been Informed by the authorities that unredeemed coupons must lapse. The issue of sugar rations has been complicated by an announcement that "coupons 4 to 8" could be redeemed at any time during the second four weekly period commencing on May 25 and ending on June 21. The announcement suggested that five coupons would be available, but the authorities stated that only "coupons 5 to B*' would be redeemed in the current monthly period, No. 4 coupon having been included in the •first monthly ration issue.
