MAINTAINING THE SERVICE
ENGINEER'S REPORT FOR MAY
In his report to the Borough Council last Monday evening the Borough Engineer, Mr F. W. Lysaght, stated as under: — Old King Streeet. Sub-station: The work of dismantling the old King Street sub-station has now been completed. A portion of the switchgear has been re-erected in Douglas St. Sub-station. The transformer lias been cleaned and repainted and at some future date will be used to supply the hospital. New Service Lines: The following new service lines have been erected during the past month: One single phase service line in Eivers Road to supply heating and lighting; one single phase service line in King Street to supply heating and lighting; one single phase service line in Toroa Street to supply two benzine pumps. New Installations: Two new motor installations have been inspected jg and connected to the supply also a ™ number of alterations and additions t during the month. No building permits have been issued during the past month. Water Works Department: The pumping plants have been in service every day during the month. No. 1 pump is at present being fitted with new thrust brasses etc. due to wear caused by grit and pumice in the water. New Sump Pump: This pump has now come to hand and is> at present being installed at the pumping station.
