WAIMANA NOTES

PATRIOTIC DANCE The dance held in aid' of Patriotic funds, last Thursday evening, was quite a success, but. not up to the usual functions financially. The music was , supplied by Mr Boynton's orchestra. Mr R. Woolfield acted as M.C. The Monte Carlo dances were quite popular. Competitions Avert; won by Miss B. Barrell, Mrs C. Iloss, Mr M. Burke and Mr L. Gallagher. A much enjoyed extra was played by Mr M. Burke. Supper was served by a willing band of helpers, and dancing continued until a late hour. Gardtening Circle The monthly, meeting of the Wai-mana-Nukuhcu W.I. members of the gardening circle was held last Wednesday afternoon, at Mrs B. Hughes' home. The president, Mrs John Addison, presided. The method of removing shrubs and planting same was; well discussed. A competition guessing the names of leaves, arranged by Mrs Hughes, was won by Mrs King. The day's competitions were: Bowl of autumn leaves and berries, Mrs Hughes 1; Mrs King. 2; Mrs Mitchell 3. Best flower, Mrs Hughes 1; Miss Hughes 2; Mrs King X. Best vegetable, Mrs Hughes 1; Mrs; Wylde 2: Miss Hughes 3. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Mannkm and Mrs Mitchell. after which members walked around the garden which was wry neat. Mrs Addison thanked M>rs Hughes for the pleasant Lime spent by all, which concluded the meeting.
