CRIME RECALLED
THEFT AT MATATA TWO CULPRITS APPREHENDED Found guilty by a jury of having received money stolen from the clothing of a man in the 1 Mat at a Hoitel on March 19 last, Leonard Gordon Andrews, aged 27, a returned soldier of the present war, was sentenced by Mr Justice Oallan in the Supreme Court, Auckland, to 12 months' imprisonment. An order was madte for the return of the money to the man who was robbed. Thomas Daley the other man involved, who was also a defaulter from military camp at the time was arrested at T'imaru last Wednesday. It Avill be recalled that according to Andrews, Daley was the man who actually committed the theft and retained the money. According to his statement the two parted company at Nelson, after having lived lavishly for the best part of a month.
