INTERESTING ADDRESS BY MISS LISSIENKO A nice ting of the Society for Closer Relations with Russia took place in the Regent Hal! on. -Thursday. April 11, at 8 p.m., and proved an outstanding success, with an attendance of about 170, reports the Levin Daily Chronicle. The platform was occupied by His Worship the Mayor, Mr H. A. Phillips, who took the chair. Mr .1. 11. Taylor, Chairman of the Levin Branch, and the speaker of the evening, Miss Irnirt Lisicnko, a young lady whose personality and charm captivated the audience. Speaking in fluent English, Miss LLssienko said that some 100.000 women in Soviet Russia were engineers, some held great living records, some were professors, scientists, music teachers, stationmasters. ship captains, geologists or biologists. Three quarters of the doctors in Russia were women. The speaker was often asked if this did not detrimentally a (feet their feminine womanly qualities. The reply was that this Avas no! noticeable.
