MEAT PRODUCTION
SEVEN MONTHS' KILLINGS The official figures of killings for the present season at the Dominion's Freezing Works from Ist October till May 2nd, as issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers Board, show that lamb killings to that date totai 9,838,416 carcases, this being a decrease of 53,092 carcases compared with the killings to May 3rd last season. Wether mutton killings are 733,630 carcases, and. ewe mutton killings 1,833,G34 carcases, compared with 540,447 and 1,382,949 carcases respectively last season. Details of the lamb and mutton killings in the North and South Islands, with figures for the previous season in parentheses are as follows: — North Island Lamb 5,340,504 (5,279,293) Wether mutton G62,3;">6 ( 469,761) Ewe mutton 1.108,050 ( 868,790) South Island Lamb 1,197,912 (4,613,115) Wether mutton 71.271 ( 70,686) Ewe mutton 725,584 ( 514,159) Frozen beef production' is now 328,357 quarters compared with 441687 quarters last season. Porker killings total 161,060 carcases, an increase of 11.067 whilst baeoners total 216,271 carcases, u decrease of 80.237.
