WHAKATANE GOLF CLUB
After the liavoe of the "stormy night" good golfing weather prevailed last Saturday afternoon. The course at Paroa was' in great order, fairways and greens being perfect— a credit to, the greens supervisor and his worthy henchman Mr Fennell. No doubt about it, the course must have been thirsty as there were no high-tide water marks on any of the greens. There was a wee bit of northerly not enough however to make an impression. Nevertheles, very few turned out to take advantage of the fresh ozone. The bright and gay plumage of the fairer sex being conspicuous by its absence; whilst about 16 men faced the starting post. "Slice" pseudomyn of golf correspondent herewith, can vouch that all who played, thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Match play being the 1 stakes, good scoring was "non est." Here are the results of sectional matches played from seniors down:— Powdrell beat Hyland; Syme beat Mollgaard; Cockerel! beat Stone.
