MOUNTED RIFLES
POSSIBILITY OF TROOP TE PUKE HUNT CLUB At Tuesday night's annual meeting of the Te Puke Ward! of the Rotorua-Bay of Plenty Hunt Club, the Deputy Master, Mr I. Vercoe said that there was a strong mounted rifles company of the Home Guard at Rotorua, and these riders had considerably strengthened the Rotorua hunts by taking an active part in its; activities. He mentioned that there was a strong possibility of a mounted rifles company being formed in the Paengaroa-Makettt area, and understood; that the comr mander of the Home Guardi in that district had been invited to form such a troop. Mr Vercoe had already been active in the matter, and the names of some 14 or 15 men willing to join the troop were handed in, and mention made of a number of more likely? members. The secretary took down the list of members, and endeavours are to be made through: the proper channels to have the mounted, rifles troop formed.
