AHUWHENUA TROPHY
WON BY TE KUITI MAORI The Aliuwheiiua Trust Board lir.s, awarded to Mr Tame Pukunui, o£ Tc Kuiti, first place in the annual competition among Maori farmers for the Aliuwhenua Trophy, a silver cup donated in 1933 by Viscount Bledisloe. Mr Pukunui is a member of the Maniopoto tribe and is farming an area of 180 acres, a property which_ when taken up was covered witlx fern, ragwort, blackberry and It is now all in good' pasture. The judge Mr E. B. Granville, instructor in agriculture at" Auckland, stated: "The winner has an ex-, ceptionally well-kept farm, and from the increase shown in the returns over a period of years proof is given of efficient management." Messrs H. and T. Paraone, of Clevedon Avere awarded second place, Mr Tihema Kingi, of Horo<-Horo, third, and Mr Charles Wells, Whakatane, fourth.
