EVACUATION?

INFORMATION SOUGHT WHAT HAS BEEN. DONE At the meeting of the local committee of the Awiake New Zealand Campaign, Mr Watson introduced the question of 'evacuation.' What has been done, he asked to ensure the safety of the women and children in the event of an emergency? "I maintain," said Mr Watskjn, "that 95 per cent of the men will go into their battle positions with less qualms, iff they can feel certain that their womenfolk have been provided for in their absence." It was pointed out that the official military order was to 'Stay Put,' but that the E.P.S. organisation had already gone into the question and would be dealing with it! "That's alright," rejoined Mr Watson, "but supposing an enemy advance were to take place across the Plains, there would be evacuation whether the 1 authorities ordered it or not, and' we might just as well have arrangements made for coping with 1 it." The meeting decided to write both the County and Borough] E.P.S. secretarys to learn the exact position relative to evacuation.
