WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT OTAKIRI
The Otakiri Women's Institute held its 12th annual Birthday Party on Wednesday afternoon last. There was an attendance oi approximately 60 members and 1 friends, including a- big delegation from Edgecnmbe and Te Teko. After the business, Mrs TTekner welcomed the visitors, and the. entertainment began with a pianoforte solo by Mrs K. Armstrong, who later gave two much appreciated vocal solos. A very popular advertisement competition was won by Miss M. Aston, and an inj foresting play 'When the wheels run down' was read by Mesdames Cristall and Whiteside and Miss Chambers . Afternoon tea was then served by the committee. The candles on the very pretty birthday cake, which was made and decorated by Mrs Armstrong, were lit by Mrs Goodwin, secretary of the Te Teko Women's Division, while Mrs Hedson blew them out. Mrs G. J. Murray then cut the: cake.
The competition winners were: Pikelets: Mrs A. Woodberry 1; Mrs Armstrong 2; Mrs Whiteside 3. Best vegetable: Mrs Dunning 1 . Best flower: Mrs Whiteside 1: Mrs Mayo
