COST OF LIVING

M Sir, —Your correspondent Rank File 6/5/42 lias a grievance from his point of view is quite right, but from the consumers point of view, and we all are consumers he has not probably given it a thought. Thus whenever the wage earner gets a rise on the cost of living, the ploycr and city merchant see to it that they get their pound of flesh, and up goes the costs, whilst many of the Rank and File and the primary producers cannot pass it »on-. note Mr Holland, Leader of the Op? position, mentioned in the I|g«Se 6/5/42 the vicious circle of J*n^|£» s and prices. He thought that Hi me / employees and employers could gettogether there would be a better derstanding, but he did not sa£ where the consumers came in. The party politician is inclined to> fc»-get ; things when he changes seats in the House, and the crack of the whip declares his financial policy. Whilst the cost of living bonus for work people will be cancelled out by taxation, I fail to see how in the long run it is going to benefit the worker or anyone, else. I agree with Rank and File that this is an all out war and that we want equal sacrifice to thai end, and that our local can't take a fence until they are lifted over it. Yours etc., W. BRADSHAW.
