A letter from the Chamber of Commerce drew the Whakatane Harbour Board's attention to the practice of certain firms dumping their rubbish unrestrictedly on the land bordering the harbourside and requested that stepsi be taken to put a stop to it. The clerk read tlie bylaws covering the protection of tlie board's property am! also the correspondence between the board and the Borough Council dealing wit h the same subject. It Avas slated that the practice harked back to the question of a tow 11 rubbish collection, Avhich ll' instituted would overcome the tendaney of haphasard 'dumping.' The chairman (Mr W. R. Boon)Its largely a matter of evidence. If only avc could get that Ave could proceed. In the meantime I think that's about as far as Ave can go.
