E.P.S. AND HOME GUARD

Sir, —T must give great credit to our E.P.S. organisation and its fine standard of efficiency, that time and labour lias produced. I would be ; sorry to see their fine efforts brought to nought but it must be recognised that they cannot work as an entirely Independent unit but as an auxiliary to the Home Guard. The Commissariat and Transport must come under one heading. What sort of a mess would there be if the E.P.S; took charge in a case, of emergency over the heads of "we will say" the Whakatane Garrison. It is safe to say that you cannot take action over evacuation or transport till you get orders from the O.G. in charge of the local forces. Now don't be discouraged, for once you fall into line you will see what a good piece of 1 work you have done. In writing these few lines I hope it may draw these two bodies, Home Guard and E.P.S. to a more co-operative way , . of thinking without unnecessary friction. Yours etc., OLD SOLDIER BILL.
