COUNTY COUNCIL'S PLANT
POSSIBLE REQUISITION
The possibility of the entire 'County plant and! the staff at present operating it; being' requisitioned by the Government in order to fulfill defence undertakings! now being carried out by the P.W.D., was mentioned] by the chiaiTman, Mr J. L. Burnett, at last Tuesiday's meeting. "We have had l instructions from Wellington to retain all our ' men, and l I woutldl not at all be ■ surprised' l to find thlat wilthin! a month all our plant would! have been taken oveT land put to national purposes. I agree that matters of defence shouldl come jfirst and we can: only do our best to assist."
