WAIMANA NOTES
GARDENING CIRCLE
Members of the Waimana-Nuku-tiou Women's Institute Gardening Circle, met at Mrs G. Stansbury's home, Waimana, last Wednesday afternoon for their annual meeting. Mrs John Addison presided. After the minutes were read a discussion followed us to whether the circle should continue with its meetings. It was fin all j' decided to carry on, and hold meetings when possible. The subscription to be the same as past years. Mrs John Addison was re-elected president, and Mrs Mannoni re-elect-ed secretary and treasurer. The results of the competitions for the past year were: —General competitions, Mrs Stevenson 1; Mrs Hughes 2. Best Flower, Mrs Stevenson 1; Mrs Hughes 2; Mrs Wylde and Mrs Woolfield 3. Best Vegetable, Mrs Wylde's challenge cup won by Mrs Hughes 1; Miss Hughes 2; Mrs Wylde 3. The da3 r 's competitions were: Bowl of mixed flowers for effect, Mrs Hughes 1: Miss Hughes 2. Best flower, Mrs Stevenson 1; Mrs Woolfield 2; Mrs King 3. Best vegetable, Mrs Hughes (cabbage) 1; Miss Hughes (beans) 2.
A flower competition arranged by Mrs Stansbury, was Avon by Mrs Woolfield. The April meeting will be held at Mrs Wool field's. The growing of beans for drying for winter use was discussed. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs King and Mirs Wool field; Mrs Addison thanked Mrs Stansbury for the pleasant afternoon and for the use of her home, which closed the meeting-
