TE PUKE HOME GUARD

MATERIALS WANTED

LOCAL DEFENCE PRODUCTIONS

During the last week rapicl strides have been made locally in. connection with preparations for defence materials and local productions arc already being tested out, says the Te Puke Times. Several of these indicate the keenness of our Home Guard members to be up and doing and with the financial backing and supply of material the present beginnings should lead to a rapid and increasing efficiency.

The general public are asked to assist in forwarding any materials which might assist in this present campaign and the Local Commander asks that supplies of sacks or bags, (any condition) baking soda, tins and lead are urgently, needed.

As it is hoped that the Minister of Internal Affairs will not favour an "open" season this year for game it is also asked that supplies of sporting cartridges (12 bore) will be donated, or forwarded for purchase by our Home Guard in Tet Puke. Sporting firearms —12 bore shot guns—are also asked fc-r any one possessing these is asked to offer them on loan to the Guard. OKI out of date single shot 12 bore bolt: action types are also welcome astthese can be converted for use in a. very valuable direction.
