HOMING CAT
DID NOT LIKE NEW HOME JOURNEY OF 80 MILES A remarkable ease of a cat emulating a homing' pigeon has just been noted in Te Kuiti. A member of the Public Works stadl was transferred from the Taumaruni-Tokaanu road work upon completion of operations to Te Kuiti, and when he and his Avife went to live at Te Kuiti they took Avith them their homestead cat. With them it came to Manunui in a box, and then the box was placed in a railway van and duly arrived, with puss still in it., in the town of Te Kuiti. But for some reason puss did not like Te Kuiti—perhaps rat week was too successful for its liking—and after a day in town it vanished. And while its owners were s bemoaning their loss came the news that the cat had turned up at its old home, 15 miles from Manunui on the Taumaruni-Tokaanu road. How the cat managed to find its way on the 80-mile trip must remain a mystery—it was completely shut in the whole way up to Te Kuiti.
