Trenches Dangerous
"As chairman oi' tlie EI.P.S. organisation in Rotorua I "would not take the responsibility of advocating the digging of slit trenches," said the Mayor, Mr 11. D. Danscy, at a meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council. The Mayor said that instead of slit trenches it was proposed to make public: shelters above the ground with sandbags. With slit trenches there was the danger of children playing in them and becoming overcome with sulphur fumes.
