At the local court yesterday before Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., William Ranapai appeared' on" a charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a motor vehicle. He was fined £15 and he was pro>hibitcd from obtaining a driver's licence for twelve months. The. accused pleaded guilty and Sergeant INI. Earrell slated that on Saturday last Inspector J. H. Delves, of the Transport Department, had found the offender asleep at the wheel of a motor truck. He was in a very drunken condition and earlier in the day the inspector had been approached by friends of Ranapai who had asked him to prevent the accused from driving the truck as he would be a menace to both the public and himself. Sergeant Farroll stated that the accused was a farmer of Poroporo an/1 was a hard working man.
