Wasn't It Lovely
Late arrivals at the scene of a motor collision at the corner of Kelvin and Gala Streets, Invercargill, en Saturday night were surprised (says the Southland Times) to hear coming from a very badly smashed car: "Our love affair will be such fun, will be the envy of everyone . . . Wasn't ours a lovely love affair." But a cheerful voice from the depths of the engine gave the explanation: "Turn her on to 4YA, Jack." The axle was bent, the wheel was gone; but the radio* was still working—so why not use that?
