Aliens in Public Service
After the Mayor of Wairoa, Mr H. L. Harker, had drawn attention, at this month's meeting of roa Borough Council, to ployment of certain persons o^flien. birth in the Public Service, the council set up a special - committee to _ make inquiries. Mr Harker said * that he had been making investigations for some time and had found that there certainly were some persons with alien sympathies. He had ' reported the matter to the intelligence department and the army authorities, and the reply had been that there rrtust be definite proof. That proof, he said, was not easy to 1 obtain, but the fact remained that there were persons in responsible jobs with views inimical to tho V~ safety of the communityG.H.
