ROAD REPAIRS
WORK IN COUNTY
REPORT BY COUNTY ENGINEER The acting-county engineer, Mr R. O. Tomkins, reported to. yesterday's County Council meeting as follows: Patching with rock has been carried out on Station and RailwayEast Roads. Repairs to the edges of the road, which had been dangerously narrowed by stock, are now being carried out on portions of the Matata-Rotoma Main Highway. With the dry weather and reduced traffic fewer repairs generally have been; required. Mclvor Road: Some 20 new 12" diameter pipe culvfcrts have been . installed on Mclvor Road and existing ones repaired. The' read has been graded up from end to end and the surface restored to good order. A further grading up will be made next month. Arrangements have been made for attention toi be to culverts after rain. Grant Proposals: Approval fc<r the formation and metalling of 35 chains of the Kopeopeo Drain Road in the Omataroa Riding have been approved by the P.W.D. The, work is in hand. No further word lias yet been received cf the Ivopuriki Bridge and Rewatu Road proposals. The former has ioeen referred to Cabinet -and the latter to Head Office, P.W.D., Wellington. Te Teko Planation Homestead Road: An. insiDection of this road was made recently. A number of 15" diameter culverts were installed some months ago on this road and with the completion in the near future of a new deviation near Rua's Lookout further culverts will be required. I would like to raise .the question of providing some means whereby the necessary attention could be given to these culverts as it is obvious they will not otherwise function for long- 1
