CASE REMANDED

ALLEGED FRAUD CHARGE AT LOCAL COURT Herbert Williams, of Kutarere, appeared at the Whakatane Court tin Friday and was remanded in custody until March 3. The charge made against him by the Police was that with intent to defraud he did obtain from Samuel Collier seven heifers valued a £49 19s; and by means of certain false pretences, to wit by falsely representing that he was authorised by the Native Department to purchase such heifers. The Police sought a remand and this was granted by the Bench.
