ONE POUND PER HEAD

THE recent allocation of £2300, to be collected from the Borough of Whakatane as its proportion of the recently launched Patriotic Appeal, amounts approximately one pound per head of the population. The sum will go towards the All Purposes Fund,, and its raising will be spread over the year. There has never been an under-subscription of past quotas in this town or district and there is no reason to believe that the new levy will not be met in the same whole-hearted manner. The town already ranks high in'the National War Savings Campaign, and can be depended upon to meet its new obligations in spite of the growing difficulties of w r ar restrictions and the impaired earning power of the community.
