WOMEN FOR SERVICE
ENLISTMENT WITH ARMED FORCES , information received by W.W.S.A. In a circular received by the local W.W.S.A. the following information is given for the benefit of women whoi desire to serve withi the Armed Forces.All women wha" wish to serve with the Armed Forces are required to register with the Women's War Service Auxiliary. Army Tlie employment of the above staff will permit of a working week of <14 hours, plus extra duty time if necessary, and leave ,for all personnel at the rate of three days' per fortnight. Leave may be granted upto 18 daj r s per annum. On completion of six months' service up to 6 days as part annual leave may be granted. Conditions of Service 1. All personnel employed will be enlisted in the-N.Z. Women's War Service Auxiliary (Army Home Service Division). 2. The medical standard will be tlie same as that laid down for the N.Z. Regular Forces. 3. Age will be frpm 18 to 45 years, 4. Service will be for the duration of the war. o. On appointment, a uniform outfit grant, of £20 will be payable. A» upkeep allowance of £10 a year, payable by equal quarterly instalments 1 of £2 10s in arrear will be made, 6. Pay will be as follows: Supervisors 7s per day; Sergeant 6s per day; Corporal. 5s 9d per day; L/Corporal os 6d per day; Private 5s per day. - 7. Personnel rationed and quartered will receive the above rates less Is Id per day. 8. Personnel not rationed and quartered will receive 2s 6d per day subsistence allowance. 9. Personnel rationed but not quartered will receive full rates of Pay. 10. Selected personnel will, in the first instance be enlisted as privatesArmy Women 'yvill be employed as followst Cooks; Mess Hands; Waitresses;. Canteen (dry) similar to chain store work; Transport Drivers; Shorthand Typistes; Clerical and General duties. Navy Conditions of service and pay are. comparable with the Army. Navy women will be employed as follows: Wireless telegraphists; Mess hands: Cooks. Wireless telegraphists are required to have attained a speed of 15 Avords a minute in sending and receiving" Morse. of a commission. Several local members of the W.W.S.A. have made application to serve with the forces. Most it is understood have sought toi serve with the Women's Auxiliary Air Force.
