ACTIVITIES OF RED CROSS
COMMENCEMENT LOCALITY It is felt very definitely that in view of the developments both present and prospective associated! with the present crisis that 4he time! has arrived! for everything possible to be d'one to safeguard the needs of the people of the Dominion. Thus the Red Cross's Society branches throughout New Zealand are building; up a supply of clothing in their own area for emergency pur> poses. Attention is drawn to an advertisement appearing in this issue announcing that a "Gift of Clothing •afternoon is to he held on Tuesday next at the Borough Council Chambers. This is Whakatane's start in this very essential work and it is hoped that the women of "Wliakatane, whether members, of the Red Cross Society or not will not be slow to respond. Clothing either for adults or children of any ages and whether new or old is required. If it is of the latter variety it should be washed and in a wearable condition. The local committee hopes that the people who so readily gave to the Lady Galway appeal for clothing for the distressed of Great Britain will come forward again for their own people-
