WAIMANA INSTITUTE

MONTHLY MEETING REPORT

There was a good attendance of -members, at the monthly meeting of the Waimana-Nukuhou Women's Institute. The proceedings opened with the singing of the Institute song, after which members stood in silence to the memory of Mrs Eagle, who passed aAvay recently and also in deference to the loss of the president's son, Sgt Pilot E. Hewitt. Mrs Eagle had been a member of the Institute, for many years. -

It was decided to postpone the annual show indefinitely. The golden threads were read by Mrs T. Wardlaw, the reading being "He could take it," and Mrs F. Savage read for Crosse."

Nominations were then received for the ensuing years committee, Mrs Hewitt, president, being unopposed.

The roll call was well responded to, the key being General Hints.

The competitions were as follows: Best flower, Mrs E. N". White 1. Miss M. Wardlaw 2, Mrs C. Wylde' 3. Best vegetable, Mrs Black 1, Miss M. Wardlaw 2, Mrs H. Wardlaw Kisses, Mrs I. Savage 1, Mrs H. Wardlaw 2v Mrs T. Wardlaw 3. Coat "hanger, Mrs I. Savage 1, Mrs Hewitt 2, Mrs F. Bell 3.

Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, and the judging was carried out by Mrs Debreceny and Mirs Stansbury. A bright period of community singing closed the meeting.
