NOBODY HOME!

WAS HIS FACE RED

It was enacted in Wliakatane on Friday and like other very humorous incidents was so to all but the central figure. A local carrier of long 1 standing, who once was a Borough Councillor (we won't mention any names), had the misfortune to have ai breakdown' with a truck some miles in the country. Far from; delighted he made the be'st of it and returned to town for another vehicle and' driver. On their return to the scene of the breakdown the 1 tow rope was affixed, the "chief" entered the cab of the leading' truck, and' set stale for home. Reaching a garage he called an attendant and' asked him to take the rear truck and repair it. The attendant looked blank, puzzled and then amused l . He gently asked "which truck," and you may imagine the consternation of the driver when he turned to find l he was alone. A broken rope told the story land so once more he proceeded 1 to the country to find! three miles away the piece he had dropped, and a dejected driver sitting on the running board.
