AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

ENGINEER CONGRATULATED WORK ON COUNTY ROADS Stating' that the road metalling programme was ahead of schedule, the chairman of the Whakatane County Council, Mr J. L. Burnett, congratulated the acting-engineer, Mr R. O. Tomkins, at last week's meeting. Mr Burnett added that the work had rapidly gone ahead 1 despite hold 1 - ups through extraordinary plant breakdowns, and the roads' were in a condition much better than usual.
