Local Soldier Missing In a recent casualty list published the name of R. J. Rae, Whakatane, was included. This should have been Walter Leslie Rae. Supply of Bridge Timbers The County Council lias decided to purchase sto?ks of Australian Hardwood bridge timbers l'or emergency supplies to the value of £2265 ,13s. The council considers the need might arise for considerable stocks while if not the supply would of always be of value. , Bennetts Road The County Council has decided to metal nine or ten chains of Bennett's road which was formed last winter. Mr A. R. Walker sought the assistance of the co>uncil in this matter stating that the road was formed last winter and was his only access. Since it was graded and following wet weather it was impossible to do any carting on it. Ohope Baths
Cr H. C. McCready reported to this week's meeting of tlie County Council that Mr Mahy was experiencing some difficulty with the dam which feeds the Ohope swimming bath a#d was seeking a donation of more timber. Timber already given by the council for seats had been used and now needed replacing. Cr McCready favoured giving assistance as there was still a large debit to be met in regard to the baths. In reply to a question the actingengineer said he had given a considerable amount of material for the baths and the requests seemed never ending. It 1 was decided that the engineer interview Mr Mahy.
