DOG REGISTRATION
—<s>—~ SHORTAGE OF COLLARS POSITION LOCALLY At this week's meeting of the County Council a letter from the Department of Internal Affairs, was received stating that owing to thfc shortage of buckles and decs, some local authorities are experiencing difficulty in obtaining dog collars for use during the registration year beginning Ist January.
Preliminary enquiries, indicate that supplies may be available early next year, but in order that the position may be clarified, it hasbeen decided to extend the registration date for a period of two months, i.e. until Ist March, 1942.
In respect of registrations becoming due for the first time during the month of January or February next, registration is required to be effected not later than 15th March, 1942. Regulations have been issued for the purpose" of giving effect to the above, and such regulations will be notified in this week's Gazette.
In the event of the Department being advised prior to Ist March next that local authorities still find it impossible to obtain their requirements, consideration will be given to authorising an alternative method of registration. In the meantime, it is desired that local authorities should • make every endeavour to comply with the requirements of the Act.
The County Clerk reported that clog collars for the current season had been received in December, and it was resolved that Inspector Carling be instructed to proceed with his dog registration duties as circumstances permit.
