ROADS AND CULVERTS

WORK IN THE COUNTY Work on roads and culverts being done by the County Council were the subject of the following report by the acting-engineer (Mr R. ■O. Tomkins) at yesterday's meeting:— Road Repairs: The placing of concrete slabs for the protection of the filling over the mudflats at Wainui is completed. A certain amount of road raising is required to finish off this work. Patching with rock has been carried out on Station, Awa-keri-Te Teko, Railway East,. Eastern Boundary and Te Teko-Galatea roads. Culverts: Thirty-three feet of 9" pipes have been installed at Klaus' gateway, the cost of the pipes to be recoverable from Mr Klaus. A • start on the installing of a number oft 12,'* culverts on Mclvor Road has been made. It is proposed to instal 20 new culverts and repair -several existing ones.
