Production Per Cow
Local dairy factory suppliers liavothis week replied to an inquiry as to the number of cows milked ori Januarv 15. Tags distributed for this purpose were attached to cans collected on Friday (to-day). The reason for this inquiry was to. enable factory directors to lind out the production of butterfat per eow—a most important poiut in these days of a guaranteed price that has re-* mained the same during two years of war and rising costs. Farmers know very well that production per cow is kept low Jiy such factors a& the percentage of 2 year old heifers in the herds, the ravages of disease, the dryness of the summer, and the labour shortage which discourages stripping of cows.
