FOREMAN'S REPORT

WORK IN THE BOROUGH

AN ACTIVE MONTH

In the course of his report to the Borough Council meeting last Monday the Foreman, Mr W. Henderson, stated as under:—

Hillcrest: Growth and fern cut back on main road: and Seaview Road. Quantities of crushed metal also spread.

Drains in Matatua and Toroa Streets cleaned. Mower has worked continuously cutting street sides, playing area and Heads Park, hay, etc. being carted anil dumped. Centre traffic, pedestrian crossing and car park .lines throughout the Borough were all repainted prior to holidays. Considerable colfix patching of streets and footpaths carried out. Non permanent footpath surfaces including Victoria Avenue, James Street, etc. cleared and trimmed. Cemetery paths maintained, hedges cut and trimmed. Refuse dump graded. Fence erected at Borough works depot. Property frontage in Nelson Street levelled. Repairs effected McAlister Street concrete paths. Considerable time was employed on a general clean up of Borough including channels and frontages of King Street, Domain Road, Commerce Street and Strand, and trees, sheds in playing area and Heads and this was maintained prior to and during the holidays.
