FARMS IN THE BOROUGH THIRTY SMALL AREAS It is interesting to note that with-* in the Borough area of Whakatane, there exist nearly thirty farms, all - of which supply the Rangitaiki Dairy Company's factory at Edgecumbe. One of the Company's motor lorries collect the cream daily in billy can, commencing in the district where most of the f arms'arc situated. a The area of the Borough is 1458 acres, and it is estimated that the , r number of cows grazed for ■commercial purposes within its boundaries is something approaching two hundred. There are numerous small holdings upon which individual residents - graze cows but the average farm, within the borough is not of any size as farms go.
