E.P.S. SLACKERS

Sir, —This is neither the time nor the place to enter upon a controversy of this nature. I merely- replied to a report which appeared in the Beacon, pointed out what I considered the reason, and suggested remedial measures . However I agree with Mr Carr on two pointSr— «r 1. United we stand divided we fall. 2. The issue at stake to-day is the,, same as that for which I, as one of many volunteers, fought 25 years ago; namely Democratic system of Government. Why then, in November 1941, when the Government denied us the democratic privilege for which Wft fought, did they not emulate the truly democratic action of our mag-< nificent and courageous leader, Mr Churchill, and unite the leadership of this country by forming a coalition national government, thereby gaining the confidence of all sections of the community. Clean air evidently prefers to breathe his clean air behind the foul atmosphere of a smoke screen. "By their sins shall ye know them;" Yours etc., J. MULLINS.
