GIBONEY —BRICKELL
Knox Presbyterian Church was the scene of- a very pretty wedding on Tuesday last when Daphne Augusta Brickcll, younger daughter of the late Mr and Mrs R. A. Brickcll, of New Plymouth, was married to Robert Daniel Gerakl Giboney, only son of the late Mr and Mrs Robert Giboney, of Amagh, County Tyrone Northern Ireland.
The church which had been tastefully decorated by friends of the bride, was gay with pink and white hyderangea interspersed with small matching posies tied with white ribbojis. The bride w T ho entered on the arm of her guardian, Mr F. Woodward, made a charming picture in soft ivory embroidered cloque cut on simple flowing lines with a full length train and long veil of old Limerick lace fastened on the top of the head with a knot of white blossoms. She carried a sheath of white gladioli and Star of Bethelem with gypsophlia and maiden hair fern.
Miss A. Carwadine who acted as chief bridesmaid was daintily attired in a full length frock of pink lace over matching satin and Miss Nance Cutler second bridesmaid looked charming in a similar frock of blue lace. Both carried bouquets of pale pink picardy blooms with maiden hair fern.
The little flower girl, Miss Valerie Middlemas, made a delightful picture in her lavendar frock and posy of matching tones softly frilled with mauve tulle.
Mr N. El. Alexander, half brother of the bride, acted as. best man, and Mr G. Mclvor as groomsman.
After the ceremony a reception was held in the Whakatane Hotel, where eighty guests asembled to do honour to the occasion. The ful arrangement of beautiful multi coloured hyderangeas in the lounge together with palms and the large bowls of gladioli which decorated the dining room made a festive setting for the tables gay with roses, sweet peas and carnations, and were a tribute to the artistry of Mrs
Hayter
Mirs F. Wociclward and Mrs Hampton received the guests, Mrs Woodward wearing a stylish ensemble of midnight blue embroidered marocain with a posy of pale pink and iiiau\e blossoms. Mrs Hampton wore a becoming frock of grey marocain with black accessories and carried a contrasting posy. The Rev. H. Hogg presided as toastmaster and at the end of the usual ceremony a toast was pledged to the boys overseas concluding with n short prayer for their safety and happy return.
The happy couple lefj: for Rotorua to spend part of the honeymoon, the bride wearing a smart dusty pink repp silk ensemble with black accessories.
Among those present was Mrs Wybourn of Te Aroha, aunt cif the bride, who wore a chic mauive velvet ensemble with fee? furs.
Mr and Mrs R. Giboney intend to make their future home in Hamilton.
CHARMAN - CONNELLY
A quiet but charming wedding was solemnised at the Presbyterian Church, Ohope. on December 27 when Elsie Ruth, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs X. A. Connelly, of Ohope, was married to Alex Henry, elder son of Mr and the latfe Mrs H. H. Charman, of Auckland.
Rev. H. Hogg officiated, the place being prettily decorated for the occasion by numerous friends of the popular couple.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dainty frock of torquoise crepe marocain ivith a toning picture hat, and shoulder spray of pale pink and cream carnations with maiden hair fern.
Mrs Merle Beckett as matron of honour wore a becoming frock of slate grey georgette and scarlet with white 1 accessories.
Mr H. Sharp acted as best man
After the ceremony the guests were entertained at the home of Mrs J. A. Connelly, Rev. H. Hogg presiding as toastmaster over a happy gathering of friends of both bride and groom. Mr and Mirs A. Charman intend taking up their residence in Whokatane.
