Ministerial Tour

A. tour of inspection of native land development schemes and native schools in the Bay of Plenty by the acting-Native Minister, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, ended on Wednesday when the Minister left Matamata by train after travelling from Rotorua through Maketu, Te Puke and Tauranga by car. He was companied by Judge Harvey, of the Native Land Court, and Mr H. Tai Mitchell, C.Mi.G., chairman of the Arawa Trust Board. This was the first visit by the Minister to the land schemes, although as Minister of Education he had opened two of the native schools in the Bay of Plenty in 1940. At Te Puke, Mr Mason inspected several sites suggested for a high school.
