COMBINED SPORTS FUND
Sir, —Could you tell me what has become of the sum of money which was raised by Queen Carnival for the purpose of improving the Whakatane Sports grounds. I understand that the Carnival Avas never concluded and being a newcomer interested in sport would like to know, in order that at some time when we hear of the boys returning from overseas, we will be able to start where the old committee apparently ha,d to leave off. Yours etc., RUGGER. (The sum of approximately £200, was raised by this means two and -a half years ago. Owing to the war the Carnival was abandoned and. the money placed in trust with the Mayor and Town Clerk. The committee had every intention of utilising the money or of continuing with the raising of funds when times were more propitious for doing so. Ed).
