BACK TO BUSINESS
WHAKATANE is stretching itself, and endeavouring to become accustomed to the old rules of humdrum business as usual. This is difficult after the Christmas and New Year holidays, but there is every attempt at regular business though the petrol restrictions have almost paralysed casual trade, and country dwellers remain marooned on their farms. However we are slowly in spite of ourselves getting back again into the old measured stride. Business is business, and maintains the life-blood of our community. Like the 'Play' it must go cn, or else we would invite chaos. We cannot afford to get depressed for it is our duty to keep the normal wheels of life and industry turning smoothly and consistently,, and though perhaps this is the slowest New Year within memory, the reasons are obvious and thus there is no time for growling.
